Exploring Seletar North Link

Most of us do not go or do not like to go to ulu (remote) places, far from central area, and more like a deserted area. But sometimes those places are hidden gems where you can have a fresh look and tranquility you don't find in city centre. In this post, I explored a hidden gem located far in the north-eastern part of Singapore. This place is often used for pre-wedding photo-shoot as it offers unique landscape. Furthermore, since it's quite far from MRT station, less people go there and it is easier for the photographer to do the shoot.

Here, you can find a quiet pathway with river and trees as the background. If you are interested, you can go down near the river, but it's quite steep, so proceed with caution.

You may be wondering, how to go there then, as it is far from MRT station? The location itself is shown in the map below.

As you can see from the map, the nearest MRT station is Punggol MRT station. Here, you have several options.
  1. Walk from Punggol MRT station. If you like to walk, it's about 1.6km from the MRT station. Round-trip will be 3.2km. Not as though as trekking to MacRitchie Reservoir. But on a sunny day, it will be very hot as it's not covered, you won't find sheltered walkway there nor forest-like adventure as in MacRitchie. You may find yourself sweating when you reach there.

  2. The closest you can get from public transport is from Nibong LRT station, which is 3 stations away from Punggol LRT station. Afterwards, you need to walk around 650m to reach there. But since you need to transfer to LRT and wait for the train, timing wise you may not save a lot of time, but definitely less energy to walk.

  3. Another option that I took was cycling from Punggol MRT station. Nowadays, we have bike-sharing applications and you can find several bikes in the parking lot outside Waterway Point shopping mall. Of course, please check the availability of the bikes before you choose to go with this option. It's less tiring than walking.
  4. If you want a fuss-free experience, then you can go by taxi or any ride-hailing service. It's the most convenient but the most expensive as well. Ultimately the choice is yours.

Nearby, there is also a forested area, but we did not go there as we don't have any spot to park the bike. We can't bring the bikes into the forest either. If you have your own transportation or you are walking, you can choose to explore the forested area further.
